Ramadan 1445/2024
ICCR follows the Fiqh Council of North America in determining dates of the Islamic calendar. They have issued the following information with regards to Ramadan 1445/2024.
Ramadan 1445 AH: The Astronomical New Moon is on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 09:00 Universal Time. On that day, there is no place on earth where at sunset the elongation is 8 degrees and moon is 5 degrees above the sun. So, the first day of Ramadan 1445 is on Monday, March 11, 2024, insha'Allah. Tarawih prayer will start on Sunday night.
Eidul-Fitr 1445 AH: The Astronomical New Moon is on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 18:21 Universal Time. On April 8, the elongation is more than 8 degrees and moon is more than 5 degrees above the sun everywhere in North America. Hence the first day of Shawwal is on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, insha'Allah.
